PlayStation 5 Shipments Have Surpassed 93.7 Million Units

In its recent financial report, Sony announced that the PlayStation 5 has shipped 93.7 million units worldwide. A total of 1.5 million PlayStation 5 units were shipped during the three months ended March 31, 2026, down 0.9 million compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. Additionally, Sony reported that PlayStation Network had 125 million monthly active users as of March 31, 2026, up one million from the same period the previous fiscal year.

The full details:

There are 125 million monthly active users on PlayStation Network as of March 31, 2026, which is up one million from the same period the previous fiscal year.

PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 software combined sold 74.6 million units during the three months ended March 31, 2026, which is down 1.5 million from the same period the previous fiscal year. 5.8 million units were first-party titles, which is down 0.1 million from the same period the previous fiscal year. 85 percent of software sales were full game software digital downloads, which is up five percent from the same period the previous fiscal year.

Sony’s notes on its forecast for fiscal year 2026 (April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027):
Compared to the fiscal year 25 operating income results excluding one-time items, the fiscal year 2026 operating income forecast is essentially flat year-on-year, which is due to the incorporation of an increase in investments for the next-generation platform. Excluding these factors, profit generated by our current business is expected to grow steadily at a double-digit rate.
We plan to base our PlayStation 5 hardware sales in fiscal year 2026 on the volume of memory we can procure at reasonable prices and we expect hardware profitability to be essentially the same as fiscal year 2025.
