Xbox Executives React to the Nintendo Switch

Xbox boss Phil Spencer answered a question on his Twitter about his expectations for the upcoming Nintendo Switch, this follows an opinion from Xbox Engineering lead Mike Ybarra congratulating Nintendo for the Switch announcement.

Here is what Phil Spencer had to say about the Nintendo Switch:

Mario looked new/fresh. Zelda should be great. Hybrid console, will be fun to see what new game ideas come from that.”

Xbox engineering lead Mike Ybarra also shared his thoughts on Twitter, Here is what Mike Ybarra via Twitter:

Fun and exciting @Nintendo announcement. Great time to be a gamer. Congrats @NintendoAmerica and WW teams. #gaming #excited.”

Back in October, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said, “I’m always impressed with their ability to state a bold vision and build a product that delivers on that vision.”

So it seems like Xbox executives enjoy the competitions and it doesn’t seem threatened by the Nintendo Switch system. Back in October Phil Spencer didn’t seem worried about PlayStation 4 Pro releasing before Xbox One Scorpio, claiming that he doesn’t think it’ll get in the way of sales.

Back in September Senior director of product management and planning at Xbox Albert Penello shared his thoughts on the PlayStation 4 Pro, he said:

“I think there are a lot of caveats they’re giving customers right now around 4K, They’re talking about checkerboard rendering and up-scaling and things like that.”

Penello claims that Xbox deliberately announced Project Scorpio last year so developers had more time to familiarize themselves with the hardware.

Xbox One Scorpio will indeed be the most powerful gaming system available at least on paper, featuring native 4K resolution and powered by a GPU clocked at 6 teraflops; it will be approximately 43 percent more powerful than the PlayStation 4, “The performance delta will be obvious,” said Penello.
