Pathfinder: Kingmaker succesfully funded on Kickstarter

Developer Owlcat Games gratefully announces it hit a major milestone today, in its crowdfunding campaign for Pathfinder: Kingmaker. cRPG and Pathfinder fans have brought together $500,000 for the very first single-player computer RPG based on the acclaimed Pathfinder Roleplaying Game.

Through this success, the veteran team at Owlcat Games, strengthened by Chris Avellone for narrative game design, is assured to take players on an unforgettable tour through the infamous Stolen Lands. Not only are familiar characters and well-known locations revisited, but kingdom founding will now go beyond simple stronghold-building. The campaign made it possible for each kingdom to become a true reflection of player chosen paths which includes option for tyrannical rule, subtle diplomacy or trickery and deceit.

Future stretch goals will add archetypes (for all the classes), additional race choices, storyline expansions beyond the initial Adventure Path and more companions, (including a companion that’s dear to hearts of Pathfinder fans). Owlcat Games also wants to include more locations to visit, including an epic dungeon.

Check out the Trailer:

Pathfinder: Kingmaker is based on Paizo’s award-winning Pathfinder Adventure Path of the same name. You certainly don’t need to be familiar with the story, but if you are, you will encounter characters you know and love. Either way, you will experience a host of brand-new events, companions, allies, and threats that expand and enhance the original Adventure Path. With help from Paizo and their authors, the story and quests have been expanded by RPG writer Chris Avellone and the Owlcat team, allowing for even more adventure in the already rich narrative of the Stolen Lands.

While Pathfinder: Kingmaker is a single-player game, you won’t be adventuring alone. Pathfinder: Kingmaker features a diverse cast of companions and NPCs, including iconic characters from the Pathfinder setting itself. You’ll need to decide who to trust and who to watch carefully, as each companion has an agenda, alignment, and goals that may differ from yours. Your journey will become their journey, and you’ll help shape their lives both in the moment and well into the future.
