Overwatch 2 Heroes Will Now Be Free at Launch

In a recent developer update, game director Aaron Keller announced that Overwatch 2 heroes will now be free upon their release. This change will begin at the start of Season 10, Venture which will begin in April. According to Keller, players will no longer need to purchase the premium battle pass to unlock new characters when they release or get them through the free battle pass. This change will also include all previous Overwatch 2 heroes. “Heroes are one of the most exciting additions to the game and we want all of our players to have immediate access to them when they launch,” said Keller, “which is why I’m thrilled to share that Venture and all future heroes will be free for all players when they launch. Starting with Venture, heroes will no longer be unlocked through the Battle Pass. This includes all previous Overwatch 2 heroes.”
