Nintendo Switch 2 Might Cost $400 According to Analysts

According to several analysts who spoke to IGN, The Nintendo Switch 2 will likely cost around $400 at launch. Kantan Games’ Dr. Serkan Toto has said that $400 is the “price they need to succeed”, and that the trailer didn’t show anything to “justify them charging $450″.  Analysts such as Mat Piscatella of Circana and Piers Harding-Rolls agreed with the price. Both Harding-Rolls and Piscatella suggested that the price would “likely not impact sales much as long as it wasn’t too ridiculously high.” Harding-Rolls suggested the price could go as high as $500, but he also suspects $400.

However, Rhys Elliot of MIDiA also claimed that “if the Switch 2 is supply-constrained at launch, Nintendo could charge more,” They also claimed that “Early adopters would be willing to pay for it, and if it’s going to sell out anyway, Nintendo might think, ‘Why not?’ I think Sony and Microsoft regret releasing the base PS5 and Series X consoles at $500. Both could have got away with $600 or more at launch,” They said.  In the end, Elliot claimed that $400 would still be the “sweet spot”.

Earlier this week, Nintendo officially announced the Nintendo Switch 2 after several leaksreports, and claims. It will launch sometime in 2025. Additional details on the console will be revealed on a Nintendo Direct which will be hosted on April 2. A series of Switch 2 in-person events will be held in multiple countries around the world. Additionally, as previously announced, the console will be able to play the Switch games but some games may not be supported on the Switch 2. A trailer announcing the Switch 2 was also released, proving the look of the samples from the leaks were right.
