In celebration of the 30th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series, this coming holiday season four new amiibo will arrive in stores.
The figures are: 8-Bit Link, Ocarina of Time Link and a two-pack that includes both Toon Link and Zelda from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
The amiibo will have the same function as their Smash Bros. counterparts for each respective character, Fils-Aime said. They will, however, have special functionality with the next entry in the long-running franchise, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

“It’s certainly a welcomed announcement, as the idea of an amiibo lineup surrounding the Zelda universe has been talked about since the figures’ arrival in late 2014. Sure, we’ve got our Super Smash Bros. and Twilight Princess HD Zelda amiibo representatives, as well as more upcoming NFC figures from the aforementioned Breath of the Wild entry, but fans of the franchise (or at least this writer) have been longing for a set of figures focused around the series as a whole for quite some time now.
The 8-Bit Link figure is certainly a great counterpart to either of the two 8-Bit Mario amiibo, although this writer personally adores the Ocarina of Time one.”
