Saga Frontier Remastered

New SaGa Frontier Remastered Protagonist Announced

Square Enix announced a new protagonist for their upcoming RPG, SaGa Frontier Remastered.

The new protagonist is Fuse, a character that will take part in the dramatic battles and along with the party will learn new techniques and abilities unlocking his inner special attacks.

SaGa Frontier was announced in late 2020 and will feature beautifully remastered graphics, new events, and features that were not implemented in the original version of the game.

First released in the North America in 1998 for PlayStation and coming to Europe for the first time, the remastered version of SaGa Frontier—a beloved RPG classic–will finally be released on Thursday, April 15th, 2021. In this latest rendition, players can choose a protagonist of their liking and embark on a story unique to each player featuring different goals and endings for each protagonist.

Choose your favourite character and embark on your own unique journey.

Each of the eight characters have different goals and endings. Your choices will affect how events unfold using the Free-Form Scenario System. This in-depth system will allow you to manipulate and expand a story all your own.

About the Fuse Storyline:

  • Unlock Conditions
    • Completing any of the other protagonists’ storylines unlocks the episode corresponding to that protagonist, enabling players to enjoy seven different scenario routes in total, one for each of the seven other protagonists.
    • Due to the feature that enables players to carry-over their status after completion, players can also enjoy this content with their stats already powered-up, providing replayability.

Fuse’s story has been written by Akitoshi Kawazu (SaGa Series General Director) and Benny Matsuyama (game writer and fiction author).   Both Kawazu and Matsuyama also redesigned the ending system to the seven-character stories from the original version. Fuse’s storyline is further enlivened with new music from composer Ito Kenji.

Wow, this is really exciting! Finally, a Saga Frontier remaster. This game is one of the most underrated RPGs of all time. However, the idea of Fuse being a playable character isn’t a new thing.

There was a lot of cut content in Saga Frontier, as it was rushed to launch. Dungeons, plot threads, quests, and even Fuse’s playable scenario were dropped in order to get it ready for market.
