New Cuphead Sequel And Mighty Cuphead Adventure Announced

During Summer Game Fest 2026, Studio MDHR announced two new Cuphead games: a brand-new, hand-animated Cuphead title that is currently in early development, and Mighty Cuphead Adventure, a new 8-bit action platformer. The studio also released a trailer for Mighty Cuphead Adventure, showcasing gameplay.

Co-founder Chad Moldenhauer commented on the announcement in a press release:

“Craftsmanship is at the heart of everything we do here at Studio MDHR. When it came time to peel back the curtain and share a little bit about what we’ve been up to, we couldn’t imagine a more fun way to do so than with today’s Special Bulletin. Crafted with the wonderful teams at Toronto’s Stop Motion Department & Continue Agency, we hope the announcement will transport players to the era we’ll be taking them to in our next project, Mighty Cuphead Adventure.”

That’s right: Mighty Cuphead Adventure is programmed in classic Assembly Language and designed with the exacting specifications of the Sega Master System home gaming console in mind. While the game will absolutely be compatible with modern consoles and PC, players who want a true blast from the past will be able to experience it on a physical cartridge on the Sega Master System home gaming console.
