Narcos: Rise of the Cartels Now Available

Narcos: Rise of the Cartels, a brutal tactical turn-based game based on Narcos, the multi-award-winning Netflix series produced by Gaumont, is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch—and will launch for Xbox One tomorrow, November 22.

Narcos: Rise of the Cartels follows the first season of the television series, through two distinct campaigns, each offering a different perspective on the infamous 80s drug war. Players can assist in the formation of the Medellin Cartel’s narcotics empire under the watchful gaze of El Patrón, or try their hardest to take them down alongside Agent Murphy and the DEA.

Each of the game’s campaigns takes place in iconic locations derived from the show, including Colombia’s sun-drenched jungles, and the damp streets of Medellin itself. Notable characters from the Netflix show will assist the player, backing them up in their endeavors, and each of these characters has their own unique perks to help complete those missions.

Fans of tactical turn-based games can experience a new take on the genre, with units on both sides moving one after the other, or multiple times within one turn, and the opportunity to counteract opponents by taking direct control of units at critical moments. Forming their own team from a variety of class-specific roles, players must upgrade their skills to join leading characters on the path to dominance, planning their moves wisely, for each action will have lasting consequences. Should players lose a member of their team during battle, that character will be gone for good.

Narcos is one of the biggest hits on Netflix and is a personal favorite of mine. This game will appeal to gamers as well as fans of the show,” said Dominic Wheatley, Chief Executive Officer at Curve Digital. “As it mixes the authentic feel of the series with an interactive experience to make you feel you’re right in the action. The characters, the storyline and the history of the cartels are all there—you just have to decide whose side you’re on!”, Dominic Wheatley, Chief Executive Officer at Curve Digital.
