Monster Hunter XX Announced for 3DS

During today’s Monster Hunter Direct, Capcom announced Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross), an upgraded version of Monster Hunter Generations. The game will come to Nintendo 3DS on March 18, 2017 in Japan.

Monster Hunter XX will add two new Hunting Styles, one of them known as Brave Style and the other one still unannounced. There will also be a whole new area, a new main city, a new Diablos Variant, the highly-requested G-Rank for quests and a new monster called Barufaruku, who will star in the art cover of the game. Additionally, Prowlers will learn the ability to jump off monsters, and much more.

“The Double Cross announcement comes quite quickly, too. Monster Hunter Generations hit North America on July 15th, 2016, nearly eight months after the game’s original 2015 release in Japan. Granted, no North American release date has been announced yet for the title, so it’s hard to say if Monster Hunter fans will be seeing two games within the course of 12 months.

But in recent years, Capcom has been bridging the gap between Japanese and North American releases for the Monster Hunter series. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate only saw a four-month gap between the Japanese and North American release, for example, which lines up with the eight-month gap between Monster Hunter X and Generations. If so, then Monster Hunter fans might have a brand new game on their hands by holiday season 2017.”
