Monster Hunter Rise Ships 4 Million Units Worldwide

Capcom announced today that Monster Hunter Rise has shipped 4 million units worldwide. The game is only available on Nintendo Switch, something that makes the games one of the best-selling games in the franchise.

During today’s announcement, Capcom confirmed that the cumulative sales of the Monster Hunter series have exceeded the 66 million units as of December 31, 2020. Monster Hunter World is currently the best-selling Capcom game beating the likes of MegaMan X, Street Fighters II, and Resident Evil II.

 

Monster Hunter Rise is an all-new Monster Hunter title exclusively launched for Nintendo Switch. The game was developed with Capcom’s proprietary RE ENGINE. The game was developed in order to provide a new, accessible Monster Hunter experience that can be enjoyed on the limited hardware of Nintendo Switch.

The new game can be enjoyed on the go, something that certainly helps to enjoy the multiplayer experience of defeating enormous beasts with friends. Monster Hunter Rise also features new monsters and locations. The development team also added a new take on how the player traverse through the map with the ability to run through walls and extended Wirebug functions. Capcom also added a new “canyne” hunting partner called Palamute, which the player can ride to move faster on the maps.

Capcom is also expanding the Monster Hunter franchise with the upcoming launch of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, a new role-playing game scheduled for release on July 9, 2021, a  game that will feature elements that can link with Monster Hunter Rise.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is the sequel to the Nintendo 3DS title Monster Hunter Stories released in 2016. Taking the role of a young Monster Rider who can use a rare Kinship Stone to form strong bonds with monsters, is up to players to investigate the massive disappearance of Rathalos around the world. Players will gain experience and improve their skills to form deeper connections with wonderful creatures.
