Mike Dies comes out on Steam February 23rd, 2018

Psydra Games is pleased to announce that after 5 years of development, we will be releasing Mike Dies on February, 23rd2018 for $14.99. It’s a brand new take on the Metroidvania genre, with a twisted sci-fi narrative and brutal dynamic death scenes.

Mike Dies is a challenging fast-paced platformer with dynamic brutal fatalities and a massive non-linear environment.

After flying his spaceship into an asteroid field, Spaceman Mike finds himself fighting for survival against hostile aliens, a ruthless kingpin and his own personal demons. Haunted by his past and hunted by his enemies, can Mike escape in one piece?

  • Run, jump and hover through over 300 levels of hand-crafted precision platforming!
  • Dying is actually fun (we promise!). Which is great, because you’re going to die a lot!
  • Multiple endings! Unravel Mike’s dark history and discover his true fate!
  • Epic boss encounters!
  • Tons of secret areas! So many!

About Psydra Games

Psydra Games was founded in 2010 by a team of game industry veterans who have worked for companies such as Harmonix, Microsoft and Disney. Our first game Dark Scavenger launched in 2012 and our second game Mike Dies comes out on Steam on February 23rd, 2018.

Essentially, pretty much everything is out to kill Mike and puzzles must be solved and platform sections navigated using skill and dexterity to get through.

The character of Mike can be moved using a jetpack, which he can use to hover and extend his jumps a little, but it does have limited power so if you stay in the air for too long Mike will fall pretty quickly. There are other puzzles involving clones of Mike that appear in the past and/or future that require the player to use lateral thinking to exploit and overcome levels with.

The way in which Mike is drawn is at odds with the world he inhabits. While he is a cartoon-like figure, everything else is more realistic in its rendering. This is clearly deliberate on the part of the developer as it differentiates Mike from the rest of the screen and thus aids the player. The sound effects are excellent in Mike Dies.
