Metroid Dread

Metroid Dread Boss Rush Update Now Available

Nintendo recently released the version 2.1.0 update for Metroid Dread, the second of two announced updates that adds new features such as the “Boss Rush,” “Survival Rush,” and “Dread Rush” gameplay modes. The new Boss Rush mode is unlocked after completing the main game and has players fight against all of the game’s twelve bosses while aiming for the shortest time possible. According to Nintendo’s website, your missiles will be restored at the end of each battle and damage taken from a previous boss will also be carried over to the next boss fight. Additionally, players can retry a boss fight if defeated mid-battle but will receive a time penalty in doing so. Lastly, bosses fought in the Boss Rush mode can also be fought again at any time by selecting the “Practice” option.

On the other hand, the new Survival Rush mode is unlocked by completing either Boss Rush or Dread Rush and tasks players to beat as many bosses as they can before the timer runs out. Whenever a player defeats a boss, more time is added to their clock, and those skilled enough to not take any damage during the fight will have even more time added to their clock. Any damage received or weapons spent are carried over into the next battle. This mode is significantly more challenging than the last as even if time remains on the clock Samus being defeated once will result in a game over.

However, the most challenging mode of all three is the Dread Rush mode, which can be unlocked by clearing the main game using the Dread mode. In this mode, players will receive a game over if they receive even a single hit from any of the game’s twelve bosses.

Aside from these new features, Metroid Dread also received some general bug fixes.
