MercurySteam Announces Four Campaigns and the Website for Raiders of the Broken Planet

MercurySteam, the award winning independent development studio behind the multi-million selling Castlevania: Lords of Shadow series, has released a new trailer, a new-look website and revealed the first details on four self contained campaigns for Raiders of the Broken Planet, to be released in 2017. MercurySteam’s pulp sci-fi adventure is a unique asymmetric 4 divided by 1 co-operative/competitive online game. The innovative cover-based tactical shooter focuses on close quarter shooting and melee combat, is heavily story driven and is able to be played as a single-player experience too. Raiders of the Broken Planet will debut on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017.

Raiders of the Broken Planet will soon launch with the Alien Myths campaign and be followed up with three additional self-contained adventure campaigns throughout 2017. Wardog Fury, Hades Betrayal and Council Apocalypse all form part of the 2017 season of campaigns for the game. Each campaign tells a parallel story and can be enjoyed in any order and will be packed to the rafters with new missions, new characters and tons of new content, each developing and growing the sci fi universe of Raiders. More details will be released soon.

The new Raiders of the Broken Planet website allows players to sign up for the upcoming closed beta tests, the first of which will take place Saturday, May 13th until Sunday, May 14th. The new closed betas will go live for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, enabling players to try out the dynamic 4 divided by 1 shooting and brawling combat of Raiders of the Broken Planet first-hand. The website will also grant players access to the Raiders Hangout community page. The Raiders Hangout will let players meet-up, discuss the game, feed back to the development team and give fans a portal for all things Raiders of the Broken Planet, directly with the development team at MercurySteam.

The “4 Divided by 1” trailer will provide a glimpse of the asymmetric online co-op gameplay players can expect from Raiders of the Broken Planet. Players can either join a team as a Raider, enjoying fast paced tactical, cooperative gameplay, or they can choose to fight against them! Don’t worry as you won’t be alone, you fight along with an AI-controlled army leading the charge against the Raiders. You may be a Raider, but are you a hero or an antagonist? In the world of Raiders of the Broken Planet, it pays to play both sides.

MercurySteam have also released the first character comic for one of the playable characters – Harec. Harec is the leader of the Raiders, fighting to protect his homeworld from foreign invaders who are after its most precious resource, Aleph. In his character comic, players will be able learn more about Harec, his backstory, and the world lore of Raiders of the Broken Planet.

About Raiders of the Broken Planet
After discovering interstellar travel through one of Saturn’s moons, humanity reach a new world, a Broken Planet on the far side of the universe. The humans, stranded on this planet, are now at war with each other and its indigenous population over control of its incredible power source, Aleph. Rising up to protect his people and his homeworld, Harec has rallied together a band of mercenaries and outlaws known as The Raiders. But will The Raiders protect the planet, or do they have ulterior motives for joining this war?

In Raiders of the Broken Planet, become a Raider and join the battle both on and offline in awesome 3rd person Brawler-Shooter gameplay. Customise your character’s combat style in unique ways with special collectible cards. Use Aleph to your advantage, to power special abilities, but manage it properly or you will give away your position on the battlefield!

In multiplayer, Raiders of the Broken Planet sets itself apart with its innovative Antagonist system. Choose to play as part of a four-person Raider team or choose to become the Antagonist and play against the Raiders team on your own with the help of an army of AI controlled soldiers at your disposal. It’s high risk, but comes with special bragging rights. After all, war is business, and business is booming.

Every soldier goes into battle equipped with some Aleph that they can use to aid their cause, but they can also steal it from fallen enemies if they take them down in close quarters melee combat – you can shoot and kill enemies from a distance if you like but you won’t be able to their Aleph and ammo. This makes for an interesting mix of stealth, gunplay and melee combat in the game and avoids the Gears of War tropes of just running, ducking behind cover and shooting.
