Spider-Man 2

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Announced for PlayStation 5

Near the end of the PlayStation Showcase, we got to see several announcements for upcoming first-party titles. Insomniac Games while not having much to show did manage to offer two exciting glimpses at future Marvel games coming to the PlayStation 5. The first of these was the brand new Marvel’s Wolverine which would have been enough right there, but right after they proceeded to showcase the sequel to their Popular Marvel’s Spider-Man game.

The trailer only clocks in at a minute and a half and doesn’t offer any real gameplay but it should excite fans who have been waiting for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. This is technically the third game in the franchise overall when you include Marvels’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which was released as a multi-generation title alongside the launch of the PlayStation 5.

The trailer indicates that unlike the last two games, which focused on the characters individually, this time around players will have to assess both Miles Morales and Peter Parker in the main story. Unfortunately, Insomniac Games has confirmed that the game will still be a single-player experience meaning that those hoping to co-op both characters with a friend will be sadly out of luck.

We also get a brief glimpse of Venom, who will be appearing in the game this time around. This was hinted at briefly in the first game, however, either he will appear as a full villain or anti-hero still remains to be seen.

The game has also been announced as an exclusive to the PlayStation 5 console. While there is a high possibility that PC players will get it eventually, the game will not be coming to PlayStation 4. The same is true for their Wolverine game as well.

Finally, the game was given a release window of 2023. This means we will have to wait a while before we can return to web-swinging around New York City.
