Lies of P Gets New Gameplay Trailer

The tale of the puppet that dreamed of being a real boy,  Pinnochio, was never a particularly ‘happy’ one. Even the classic Disney adaptation, while more lighthearted than the Carlo Collodi novel, even still depicts some of the darker subject matter in a pretty vivid way. Now the story of Pinnochio will be getting the Dark Souls treatment, making it even darker, with the upcoming video game Lies of P.

Now, a new gameplay trailer has been released, showcasing the darker take on the already dark tale. We see the city of Krat, which is Belle Époque in nature, where the game will be set, which is filled to the brim with disease and mechanical monsters that have overtaken it.

The player will take the role of Pinnochio, who awakens in an abandoned train station with a note that commands him to “Find Mr. Geppetto. He’s here in the city.” From there Pinnochio will set off on the familiar story, as the titular character sets out to become a real boy amid this horror.

Similar to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, one of the major gameplay elements will be the main character’s mechanical arm which he can use both for traversal and combat. Along with that, he will get many weapons that should appeal to fans of Bloodborne, including a long hacksaw.

Overall, while the trailer offers only a brief look at gameplay, it does help make this game one to look out for if you are a fan of the genre. If the Adventures of Pinnochio isn’t your cup of tea, another game that will soon enter the space is entitled Black Myth: Wukong. This game takes the classic Chinese novel Journey To The West and also blends it with the Dark Souls formula.
