With Halo Infinite looking like one of the top upcoming Microsoft exclusive titles scheduled for next year, it seems the development team will undergo a bit of restructuring due to the fact that former creative director Tim Longo left 343 Industries earlier this week. The move comes at a bit of an odd time in the schedule considering the upcoming first-person shooter juggernaut Halo Infinite is nearing its final stages of development.
Microsoft spoke to Kotaku regarding the move, stating “Roles and responsibilities of various team members regularly evolve to meet the needs of a game, throughout development(…)Additionally, Tim Longo has recently departed our team and we are truly thankful for his many contributions to our games, our studio and the Halo universe(…)The overall creative vision and production of the game remains led by Chris Lee, Studio Head of Halo Infinite.”
So, while Microsoft doesn’t seem too overwhelmed with the move for now in their response to the move, shake ups like these can often cause minor hiccups in development – especially when entering the final stages of the process.
However, for now the release window remains the same as Halo Infinite is expected to release alongside Microsoft’s next-gen console, Project Scarlett, sometime during the holiday 2020 season.
