Half Life Games Are Now F2P On Steam

Great news for Half Life fans who missed a Half Life game, as in anticipation to Half Life: Alyx’s release, Valve is giving away all Half Life games through Steam. Valve is inviting all who hasn’t played a Half Life game to try it for free and learn why is such a beloved franchise.

“Half-Life: Alyx is coming in March, and we are celebrating early by making all games in the Half-Life Series FREE to play for Steam users, from now until the day it launches!”

Half Life: Alyx is the first game in the franchise after 12 years, it’s a VR game being developed with Source 2 engine. Players will use VR to interact with the environment and fight enemies, similar to the ‘Gravity Gun’ from Half-Life 2 players will count with ‘Gravity Gloves’ as way to interact and manipulate objects. Half-Life: Alyx will feature plenty of puzzles, and physics-based combat.

Valve has made it clear, that even if the gameplay is different from previous games, Half-Life: Alyx is not a spin-off, is the “next part” in the story. Half-Life: Alyx follows the story of Alyx Vance and her father Eli, who creates a resistance to the occupation of Earth by The Combine.

Half-Life: Alyx will supports all PC-compatible VR headsets, including the Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest and Windows Mixed Reality. The gameplay is designed around VR, being this the case a non-VR version is impossible. Half-Life: Alyx will also support user mods via the Steam Workshop.
