Gran Turismo Sport and Mazda Designs RX-Vision Concept

In celebration of Mazda’s 100 year anniversary, Gran Turismo Sports has launched their vision of the looks of a modern 787B, the emblematic race-car that destroyed Ferrari and Porsche on the group C of The 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1990-1991. The imagination of Polyphony Digital’s race car is available right now for players through the Patch 1.59.

The car is introduced by Kazuroni Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital and Creator of Gran Turismo, he explains that it’s based on Mazda’s “Kodo-Soul of Motion” a design that was featured on the Mazda RX-Vision, a concept car unveiled at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.

Players can expect to take the imagined version of a new rotary engine along with the beauty of a Mazda design, aggressive aerodynamic features will still make RX-Vision GT3 Concept a really tough car to beat under the category. The car features a 4-rotor engine boasting the SKYACTIV technology, the car is also super light enabling the driver for impressive cornering and super fast revving.

The introduction of the new car would not be completed without a special competition in Gran Turismo Sports, starting today, players can participate in the “RX-Vision GT3 Concept Time Trial Challenge, and the “RX-Vision GT3 Concept Livery Design Contest.”

The top winners from both events will receive special prizes from Mazda including a limited-edition sketch and miniature car. This is a unique opportunity to feel and share the spirit of Mazda’s motorsports and design celebrating its 100th year. We invite everyone to take on this challenge!

Mazda, one of the leading sports cars manufactures has been very quiet since it’s glory days of the eighties and nineties, Gran Turismo‘s vision might help the company as it has helped Nissan in the past. Yamauchi is a very respected person both in the gaming industry, and racing. He spearheaded some of the first kind of eSports with the GT Academy, a place where professional players take the wheel of a real racing machine. Fans of the rotary engine can only dream of Yamauchi helping Mazda to shape a new RX-7 just as he did with the Nissan Skyline GTR.
