Original Story:

A very short 6 second gameplay video for Godfall has found its way on Reddit. This gameplay video was leaked by YeaQuarterDongIng, and he claims it’s just a fraction of the footage from an unreleased trailer.

Godfall is an upcoming Epic Games Store and PS5 game, it’s being published by Gearbox Software, it’s a third person “looter-slasher” focused on melee combat, it’s a PS5 launch title, also making it to PC through Epic Games Store. The game is being developed by Counterplay Games and will be published by Gearbox Publishing.

Key Features:

  • High-Impact Combat – Master third-person melee action.
  • Looter-Slasher – Chase legendary weapons and armor.
  • Better Together – Enjoy one, two, or three-player co-op play.

At the 2019 Game Awards Godfall became the first PS5 game announced. It’s developer, Counterplay Games, have only made one game previous to this called Duelyst, which is a free-to-play, turn-based card game.

Godfall takes inspiration on Monster Hunter World and Destiny 2, the difference lies in the gameplay, from what’s been confirmed and what has been leaked, the game features a third person action based on melee combat, swords, axes, and hammers should be the weapons of choice. In the gameplay video it can also be spotted some of the character or classes to be available.

The creative director, Keith Lee, did have this to say about the gameplay:

“We’re innovating with Godfall to provide a fresh take on action RPGs by rewarding skill-based offensive gameplay and making every hit matter. Namely, we want to feed into that yearning for the next best piece in your character build, so we plan to provide plenty of loot to players to ensure there’s meaningful impact to gameplay and playstyles.”
