Ghosts ‘N Goblins Coming To Nintendo Switch February 25, 2021

Ghosts ‘N Goblins Resurrection is a remaster of the NES classic, coming to Nintendo Switch February 25, 2021.

Capcom has remastered Ghosts ‘N Goblins for the Nintendo Switch, providing another generation with its crushing difficulty. Known for its unforgiving brutal gameplay, Ghost ‘N Goblins has been in the gaming hall of fame as one of the most punishing games of all time, alongside Contra, Ninja Gaiden, and Battletoads. The gameplay in the remaster won’t be altered, keeping the same level of difficulty from when the game was on the Nintendo Entertainment System.

Originally released in 1985, Ghosts ‘N Goblins has stayed in the Zeitgeist by being on over fifteen different consoles since its inception. This run and gun is perfect for the style of play Nintendo wants to cater to with the Nintendo Switch. Ghost ‘N Goblin’s gameplay is perfect for trying one more run.

The original has protagonist Sir Arthur slaying zombies, demons, cyclopes, orgres, and dragons in his attempt to rescue the Princess Prin-Prin from Astaroth, King of the Demon World. The game included four bosses, with Satan and Astaroth being the final two. In the original version, there were six stages, all having something to do with ascending Demon Realm Castle. Sir Arthur also only had access to five weapons throughout the original campaign (ax, daggers, torch, shield, and lance) to make matters more difficult. Sir Arthur can sustain two hits from enemies; one hit will destroy his armor, the next will kill him, restarting the level. So, no matter what Capcom does to adjust this game for the modern market, this game is difficult to its core.

Ghosts ‘N Goblins Resurrection comes to the Nintendo Switch February 25, 2021.
