Fortnite characters dropping in.

Fortnite to add Matchmaking in Next Update

Well it seems like that Fortnite is finally getting itself a matchmaking system according to a blog post by Epic games. Additionally, they’ve mentioned that ai bots will be added to the game.

According to the post,

“Since Battle Royale launched, the matchmaking strategy for our core modes has remained mostly unchanged. Over the past two years, however, the range of player skill has grown considerably. In Arena, we use Hype-based matchmaking to ensure players are matched evenly across platforms.

In the v10.40 update, we’re introducing improved matchmaking logic to Battle Royale core modes to create fairer matches. What does this mean? You will be more likely to match with players of similar skill, and as you get better, so should your opponents. We will slowly roll this out to all regions across Battle Royale core modes as we test and monitor how it performs. We’re excited to get this out for everyone to play with and will continue to update the system. We’ll update you when it’s fully live across all regions to get your feedback as you try it out. “

So matchmaking will finally be coming to Fortnite. It’s a long-awaited feature that for some reason only made it now. Well no matter, the feature is finally coming to the game and will hopefully streamline many of the game’s matches.

Additionally, the game will also be adding ai-controlled bots in the next Season.

Of course adding straight up bots to a battle royale game seems like a daunting task, but as we can learn from Team Fortress 2 in the past, bots can be both intensive and smart at the same time, so there needs to be a level of intelligence to be battling in an open environment where anything can happen.
