Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster Coming to Steam on May 12

Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD remaster arrives on Steam on May 12, according to a new product page and confirming earlier leaks.

The PC port has all the same features and upgrades of the PlayStation 3, PS4 and Vita versions as well as the PC bells and whistles Square Enix loves adding to these releases.Expect HD visuals, remastered music, all the extras of the International Edition, auto-saves, and five different boosters for those who don’t want to relive the grind of PS2 era RPGs.

Originally released in 2001 for PS2, Final Fantasy 10 was a major turning point for the series, jumping forward a hardware generation to general acclaim for its graphics and voice acting. It was also notable for the stepping back of series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, who later went indie with his own studio, Mistwalker.

It’s only the latest in the Final Fantasy series to grace PC. There have been some problems with earlier releases like locked resolution and performance issues, but the publisher seems to be getting the hang of things now.

“Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster “celebrates two of the most cherished and beloved entries to the world-renowned franchise,” per the game’s Steam page. Besides characters, backgrounds, and other visual assets given an HD coat of paint, the PC version will include a rearranged soundtrack and content from international editions of the game previously only available in Europe and Japan.”
