Final Fantasy XV ‘Death Spell’ Gameplay Trailer

Square Enix has released a new, four-minute gameplay video of Final Fantasy XV unveileing Death magic, one of the powerful spells granted to Noctis by the Ring of the Lucii.

Ring magic allows the user to cast powerful spells like Death, the spell has a rather interesting effect on the enemies as it shrivels and decomposes the body of the enemy which is targeted. The spell appears to take some time depending on the strength of the targeted enemy.

Players can also extract the elemental magic from various points on the world map and then combine them to execute powerful magical attacks. These attacks can have a variety of effects depending on their power and so far, we have confirmation of Fire, Blizzard and Lighting magic.

Final Fantasy XV is due out for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 29.

“From what we gather, this is footage taken from one of the project’s latest builds, so it’s likely close to how the title will look when it launches near the end of November.

As for the video itself, the focus is on a newly revealed death spell, which allows you to kill off an enemy as long as you can cast it without getting hit. The visual effects are pretty interesting, too, with monsters growing thin and contorted as Noctis continues to drain their life away. It’s really quite brutal, to be honest.”
