Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny Announced for PS4 and Switch

At today’s Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, Nippon Ichi Software unveiled Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny for Nintendo Switch. The Japanese website for the game reveals that the game is also coming for PlayStation 4 and is scheduled to launch on January 28, 2021, in Japan, followed by a worldwide release on summer 2021.

Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny is a bold statement of the crazy nature of the franchise, the development team has increased the level and damage cap beyond the absurd. Players will be able to reach level 99.999.999 and make damage up the quadrillions. The main character is a zombie named Zed, powered by his special ability Super Reincarnation, he will defy his destiny as a low-level demon in order to kill the God of Destruction. Interestingly, the trailer showcases Laharl, Flonne, and Etna, the team of the original Disgaea game.

Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny seems to maintain the same formula, several humanoids and monster to create, and the same strategic turn-based combat which fans love, however, the graphics have changed, the game is presented with full 3D visuals, the first time for a Disgaea game. The game is also featuring difficulty settings and other options that are present in order to make the game perfect “for both new and old Disgaea fans”

Here is the game’s official description via NIS.

Zed is a boastful zombie who wallows on the lowest rung on the Netherworld ladder alongside his sister Bieko. When a God of Destruction threatens their way of (un)life, Zed must harness his unique ability of Super Reincarnation to stand against the approaching menace. Along the way, he will unite with twisted and colorful denizens of different Netherworlds, face challenges around and within, and see if even an undying hooligan like himself can defy the odds!

Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny unites a grim yet touching story with insane tactical combat, while introducing gameplay elements never before seen in previous installments. As a result, new and returning players alike can craft a truly memorable and unique journey through the Netherworlds. Bring the pain in battle with special attacks and support from a plethora of ally units. Customizable settings such as Auto, Retry, and Replay allow both hardcore and casual players to fight their own way. And should things take a terrible turn, use Super Reincarnation to rejoin the fight and keep trying until you succeed. This truly is a Netherworld fit for everyone!
