Digimon World: Next Order Coming West for PS4 in Early 2017

Bandai Namco has announced that they are bringing the next installment in the Digimon franchise to North America and Europe next year on PlayStation 4.

This is the description via Namco:

Along the way, players will nurture and train their Digimon partners for battle as they progress through the game. Digimon World: Next Order contains over 200 Digimon for players to meet, recruit, and interact with throughout their adventure. Digimon World: Next Order will also give players the choice of playing as either a male or female protagonist and enable players to explore the Digital World with two Digimon partners for the first time in franchise history. The key to finding a way back to the real world and stopping the Digital World from total destruction at the hands of Machinedramons will lie in building strong bonds and providing effective training for each Digimon.

Check out the Trailer:

“Japan got their hands on this experience for the Vita back in March of this year, but the focus of the Western release for Digimon World: Next Order seems to have moved to strictly the PS4 instead. The game plays out as an RPG, with the addition of a possible second Digimon partner for the player over the standard 1 on 1 team-up. The player is sucked into the Digimon World. Its been taken over by Machinedramons, and the player saves two Digimon from an untimely demise. Finding the source of the Machinedramon menace might be the key to helping the human get back home in one piece. They’ll train their Digimon partners up through battling, encountering over 200 Digimon and interacting with them in various ways. Over time you can build up a village of these e-critters, maximizing the benefits you get in-game by doing so.”
