Cyberpunk 2077 – ‘Probably Not’ Coming To Switch

CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 is easily one of the gaming landscape’s most anticipated games. Set to release in April 2020, the hype and the buzz for the game continues to rise, from the e3 Keanu Reeves appearance to the beautiful graphics that have been shown, we’re all looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt Red’s John Mamais sat down with GameSpot to talk about all kinds of topics involving the game. Microtransactions, censorship, future games and more only scratch the surface of what Mamais talked about in this interview with GameSpot.

If you aren’t aware, CD Projekt Red is also porting their wildly successful game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition to the Nintendo Switch. In fact, the game is coming out tomorrow with reviewers and critics praising Projekt Red’s seemingly impossible port. With this port coming to light, some are wondering if there’s any chance, any universe, any timeline that we could receive Cyberpunk 2077 on the Nintendo Switch. While the port of The Witcher 3 seemed highly unlikely it sounds like John Mamais is more skeptical of getting Cyberpunk 2077 on the Nintendo Switch in saying “Who would have thought a game like The Witcher 3 would be possible on Switch, so who knows? I guess we’ll see, if we decide to put it on the Switch, if we can do it. Probably not.”

While this isn’t a straight-up rejection of the possibility of a Nintendo Switch port, given the graphical fidelity of the game, it would absolutely push the Switch to its limit. In the same breath though, CD Projekt Red has to have the majority of their attention on getting Cyberpunk 2077 primed and ready for 2020. It’s doubtful that they’re discussing let alone working on a port for the Nintendo Switch.

What do you think? Do you think the Nintendo Switch could handle a game like Cyberpunk 2077? Would you grab a port if they did release it? Let us know and make sure you follow Gaming Instincts on Twitter & Facebook.
