As spotted by MP1st, new evidence that Injustice 3 is in development comes from a Warner Bros. Games artist. The artist’s resume lists Hogwarts Legacy 2, which has already been confirmed to be in development, as well as Injustice 3. The resume notes that the game titles are to be determined, indicating that they may still be pending. For now, it remains to be seen when the title will be officially announced.
NetherRealm’s creative lead, Ed Boon, previously stated his intention to return to Injustice, noting that the team had already decided on its next project back in 2021. This suggests that a follow-up to the series has been under consideration for some time. The last entry in the series, Injustice 2, was released in 2017 and, despite its critical acclaim, there has yet to be a new installment.
According to a Variety interview with Warner Bros president David Haddad, a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy is currently in development at Avalanche Software. According to Haddad, the sequel will be a “very big priority” to Warner Bros. Discovery. It will also be tied to HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series. Haddad stated the games team has been coordinating some big-picture storytelling elements in the upcoming sequel with the storylines that will be seen in the “Harry Potter” HBO series. Additionally, Haddad stated that the success of Hogwarts Legacy has spawned confidence in the Harry Potter franchise, and that the time was right to make a major Potter push. “The rest of the company was very curious about what we helped to unlock with ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ last year.”
