Celeste DLC Won’t Arrive on Its Anniversary

Creator Matt Thorson promised recently a DLC as a “thank-you”to fans, the so called farewell levels will be hard and new items are coming, originally planned to launch early this year, it was suggested that it will release on January 25th celebrating it’s anniversary, but Thorson made the announcement yesterday that we will have to wait a bit longer, on a positive note the DLC is confirmed to be free on all platforms

Read below what Matt said on his twitter account

Some Celeste DLC Chapter details:

  • It won’t be ready for the anniversary on Jan 25th, sorry!
  • It’s all one continuous chapter, no B-Side
  • It’s after the current hardest levels in difficulty
  • No strawberries
  • There are some new items/mechanics
  • Free on all platforms

Thorson’s news makes it important for Xbox One Gold subscribers to pick up the game while it’s still free this month, so they can get in on the free DLC action when that drops later. They should pick up Celeste regardless, as it’s one of our 10 best games of 2018 and is nominated for three honors, including Game of the Year, at the 19th annual Game Developers Choice Awards this March.

About Celeste:

Help Madeline survive her inner demons on her journey to the top of Celeste Mountain, in this super-tight, hand-crafted platformer from the creators of multiplayer classic TowerFall.

The controls are simple and accessible – simply jump, air-dash, and climb – but with layers of expressive depth to master, where every death is a lesson. Lightning-fast respawns keep you climbing as you uncover the mysteries of the mountain and brave its many perils.
