Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood Announced for PS4

Konami has announced Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood “exclusively” for PlayStation 4. It will launch via the PlayStation Store on October 26 for $19.99.

Castlevania Requiem is a bundle including classic games Rondo of Blood, which came out in Japan in 1993, and its sequel, 1997’s Symphony of the Night. They revolve around vampire hunter Richter Belmont and Dracula’s son Alucard. Symphony of the Night is widely considered to be the best Castlevania game, and appears on many best games of all time lists.

Both games are the original titles emulated for PlayStation 4, with several updates including 4K / 1080p resolution upscaling, multiple high resolution backgrounds, different rendering options such as smoothing, and full Trophy support. It also utilizes the DualShock 4 controller’s vibration, analog sticks, and speaker, with the latter playing a chime when you pick up an item.

Arriving the same day as the Season 2 release of the Netflix original, Castlevania, fans of the show will have an introduction to the acclaimed franchise that inspired the animated series. Fans of the game will relive the timeless classics like never before thanks to KONAMI’s partnership with SIE Worldwide Studios to create these high-quality ports. Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and its sequel, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, will be updated with modern game elements such as earning Trophies while keeping the fidelity of the musical score, boss battles and all the side-scrolling action that makes the Castlevania franchise an esteemed classic.

Originally released in 1993, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood features Richter Belmont, the iconic heir to the whip. Players will guide him in his pursuit to save his beloved Annette from the grasps of Dracula. Castlevania Symphony of the Night picks up several years after the events in Castlevania: Rondo of Blood where players are introduced to the transmorphic Alucard as he uncovers the truths about Richter’s whereabouts.
