Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions Announced

Bandai Namco today announced Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions  for the Nintendo Switch, Sony PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam.

The game allows players to go through an anime portrayal of the life of a professional footballer. Players will be able to execute super moves both in the offense and defense. Several gameplay modes will be included, from a story mode, a local versus and online versus.

Bandai Namco Entertainment America’s Director of Brand Marketing Denis Lee shared his thoughts about bringing this popular franchise back to America.

“We’re excited to take to the pitch and bring Captain Tsubasa back to western console and PC gaming audiences with Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions.” said Dennis Lee, Director of Brand Marketing at Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. “With Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions we’re combining the global excitement surrounding the sport of soccer with the nostalgic appeal of the classic Captain Tsubasa franchise; all presented with anime style and flair. Soccer and anime fans are in for a truly unique and unforgettable experience!”

The American version of Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions will feature Japanese voice-over with subtitles in English, Neutral-Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.

The game is based on the works of series creator, Yoichi Takahashi, the game chronicles the athletic exploits of Tsubasa Ozora( Oliver Atom) and the glory and success his teammates experience under his leadership.

Captain Tsubasa is a Japanese manga series, originally created by Yōichi Takahashi in 1981. The series is characterized by dynamic and exciting football moves, often stylish and implausible. The plot focuses on Tsubasa’s relationship with his friends, rivalry with his opponents, training, competition and the action and outcome of each football match. Across the multiple Captain Tsubasa mangas, the plot shows Tsubasa’s and his friends’ growth as they face new rivals.
