Call of Duty: Vanguard Already Beset By Cheaters

Call of Duty has always had a history of hacks and cheats being used to give players the ability to manipulate the game to their own end. In particular, Call of Duty: Warzone has been a particular area on contention as it has had massive issues with rampant cheating over its several-year run. With several measures in place, including hardware banning, one might hope the maybe Call of Duty: Vanguard would be less problematic.

This does not seem to be the case as the upcoming game is only in its open beta and already experiencing a massive amount of cheating. According to a report by Waypoint, cheaters have already begun selling their wares in the open beta. The beta does not include the anti-cheat system that Activision has been promoting will be release with Vanguard, this has allowed these cheaters to go virtually unchecked.

As is the case with the other hotly anticipated first-person shooter Battlefield 2042, these cheat developers are already preparing for the full launch of the game. Listings that were viewed by Waypoint included claims at “lifetime” access to Vanguard hacks. The claim is these cheats have cropped up so quickly due to Vanguard having similar coding to the 2019 Modern Warefare, which has made it easier to create hacks for the game.

An anonymous source told Waypoint:

The core of the [Call of Duty] engine hasn’t changed much during the life of the franchise so porting a cheat from one game to another has always been very easy. Cheat developers have extra incentives to get that working during beta: it’s good publicity for them to be the first and that allows them to capture screenshots and videos for marketing. Most usually give the cheat free to their existing customers. Some even go free for everyone.
