Blizzard Has “No Major Frontline Release” For 2019

Blizzard Has “No Major Frontline Release” For 2019

According Activision, the financial report doesn’t look too good, and it has taken a toll on the publisher, but Blizzard as well, Activision says that last year saw the release of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, so they’re not planning a major release for 2019.

“Turning to Blizzard, we expect materially lower financial performance this year,” Activision said. “2018 benefited from the release of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, whereas we are not planning a major frontline release for 2019.”

Blizzard said it finished its fourth quarter with, “softness for its in-game revenues that will take time to stabilize and return to growth.”

The call also noted that, “While these factors will weigh on Blizzard’s financials this year, looking further ahead, Blizzard’s pipeline of PC, console, and mobile content is richer than ever, and we expect the significant addition of development resources to accelerate the pace of delivery over time.”

It really seems like Blizzard’s plans for 2019 was the big announcement at BlizzCon 2018, Diablo Immortal, after suffering the anger of the fans, Allen Adham, executive producer and Blizzard co-founder had to confirm that other Diablo games are in development, implying Diablo 4 might be next.

“We have said that we have multiple Diablo teams working on multiple Diablo projects and that remains true, even after releasing [Diablo 3 for Nintendo] Switch and announcing Diablo: Immortal,” Adham said. “We still have multiple Diablo teams working on multiple unannounced Diablo projects. Diablo is a tentpole franchise for us. And it always will be. We love it. We hope our fans understand what we’re saying when we say that.”

I can understand, AAA titles needs founding from smaller titles, but I can only say, this is mad management from Activision and Blizzard, but don’t just take my opinion, leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
