Rocket League Announces Lunar New Year Event

Psyionix has announced a new event for Rocket league, ‘Lucky Lanterns will start on January 20, for Ps4, Xbox One, Switch and PC players.

This event will celebrate the Lunar New Year and Lantern Festival, players will earn rewards by playing online matches. A new form of currency is available, Red Envelopes will be exchangeable for new items, crates and experience. For this event crates comes in shape of Golden Lanterns, those unlock items from Champions Series 1, 2 and 3.

The whole is event is inspired by elements of Asian culture and mythology. A new arena called The Forbidden Temple Arena display several symbols and architecture traditionally used in the East. Psyonix has not specified if this arena will be available after the events ends.

There are several new items, from boosts, decals, toppers and wheels. The fan’s favorite Dominus and Octane reveiced special decals based on dragons. Two new goal explosions can be spotted in the trailer. Rocket League ‘s item shop will also offer unique themed items available to purchase.

Lucky Lanterns starts at 12pm CT on January 20,  ending 12pm CT on February 10. All red envelopes acquired will be usable until February 13.

Rocket League is a successful e-sport title Rocket League is a vehicular soccer video game developed and published by Psyonix. The game was first released for Windows and PS4 back in 2015, with ports for Xbox One, macOS, Linux, and Nintendo Switch being released later on. In June 2016, 505 Games began distributing a physical retail version for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment taking over those duties by the end of 2017.
