According to a recent report from PS Store price tracker PSprices, Sony is seemingly testing dynamic pricing on the PlayStation 5 PlayStation Store. This model allows companies to set prices based on demand or a customer’s purchasing history and tendencies. The tracker has detected price changes across more than 100 games, with some users reportedly offered personalized discounts of up to 17.6%. Some players have also noted significantly lower prices on certain titles.
According to the tracker, users are being randomly selected and placed in a test group as part of a Sony A/B study. Games with notable price changes include first-party titles such as God of War Ragnarök, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, The Last of Us Part II, and others. Third-party games are also reportedly included. According to PSprices, Sony has been A/B testing prices for at least three months in 30 different regions and is now doing so in nearly 70 regions, including Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America, and Africa. However, the United States and Japan are not included, likely due to the stricter regulations in those regions. Sony has yet to confirm these claims despite several accounts.
