According to a new report from Aftermath, following several VR studio layoffs by Meta, Camouflaj, the studio behind Batman: Arkham Shadow, has experienced “heavy layoffs” affecting most of its employees, including founder Ryan Payton. The report cites sources claiming that only “a handful of employees” remain at the studio. As a result, several games that were in development at the studio have now been cancelled. The remaining employees are reportedly working on “the new user experience for upcoming hardware.” Additionally, in a report from Kotaku, a Meta spokesperson confirmed that “Camouflaj (the studio behind Batman: Arkham Shadow) is not shutting down,” but acknowledged the studio was impacted by the recent round of layoffs. Former senior animator at the studio, Kaitlin S., took to LinkedIn to confirm her layoff. “I was a part of the recent Meta layoffs that hit Camouflaj,” Kaitlin wrote. “It’s been an incredible 12+ years with the team, and I am so proud of what we accomplished in that time! I will miss the Camouflaj team a great deal. It was an incredible group of game devs.”
