According to a recent Gematsu post, Meta has officially shut down several VR studios, specifically Armature Studio, Sanzaru Games, and Twisted Pixel. The news follows a recent Bloomberg report claiming the company plans to cut 1,000 jobs from its Reality Labs division, which focuses on VR headsets and software. In a statement to Gematsu, a Meta spokesperson said, “We said last month that we were shifting some of our investment from Metaverse toward Wearables. This is part of that effort, and we plan to reinvest the savings to support the growth of wearables this year.”
Armature Studio, which developed the virtual reality port of Resident Evil 4, was acquired by Meta in February 2020. The studio is also known for Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. Twisted Pixel, which was also acquired that month, notably developed Marvel’s Deadpool VR, which launched November 18, 2025.
