5 Things You Absolutely MUST Know about Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey Before Release

#5 – 2 Different Characters

For the first time ever in the history of Assassin’s Creed, you will be able to choose between Alexios and Kassandra. Who both have their own story and perspective of the game’s world, values and so on. This is a very interesting take for the franchise because now you can play the game and experience the storyline from 2 different perspectives. It’s also worth noting that these characters are not really Assassin’s but rather mercenaries who are looking to become the legends of ancient Greece.

#4 – Massive Battles and new Skill Tree

In previous Assassin’s Creed games you would normally fight 5-10 enemies with very basic combat mechanics. As time went on the combat system was also evolving with every new entry in the series. This time around Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey will truly try to capture the brutal battles of ancient Greece and put you in the middle of the pack of 150 vs 150 man battles, similar to movies like 300. Majority of the combat mechanics are being kept from Assassin’s Creed: Origins, because let’s be fair it was quite good.

So instead, we’re getting much larger scaled battles this time around to truly immerse you in the world of a brutal era. The brand new skill tree is divided into the 3 different play-styles – Hunter, Warrior, and Assassin. Hunter is for those who enjoy range combat via bow and arrow and things of that nature. The Warrior tree is all about in your face hardcore melee combat with sword and shield or any other types of melee weapons such as axes or maces. And of course, the Assassin tree which will turn Alexios or Kassandra into a stealth killing machine. You can spec into all of these trees at if you want and play at your leisure with whatever tactics you wish.

#3 – Overhauled Naval Combat

Those who missed Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag can now gather and rejoice thanks to the return of the Naval combat system. Naval combat is now returning in its full glory with fresh new mechanics, ship weaponry such as spears along with new recruitment mechanics. Greece has plenty of islands to visit and I am quite positive there will be a butt load of stuff to explore and discover via naval travel in Assassin’s Creed Odysee. There is no loading, there are no instances. Go anywhere, fight any ships, plunder loot and enjoy the beautiful world of ancient Greece on the deadly seas.

#2 – It is a full-on RPG with Dialogue Choices

With Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey the developers have decided to go the complete RPG route with full-on dialogue choices and multiple outcomes. If you’re a fan of the Bioware games such as Dragon Age or Mass Effect or dare I say Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic then Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey will be right up your alley. This is the first time ever in the history of the franchise where your actual choices will impact the storyline and progression. Definitely, something to be excited for and I say this personally as a huge fan of the original Assassin’s Creed games.

#1 – The Storyline and Timeline

And the last thing but not the least that you need to know about Assassin’s Creed: Oddysee is that the game is set in 431 BCE and four hundred years to the prior events of Assassin’s Creed Origins. The most important thing to note about the storyline is that it continues the modern plotline of Layla Hassan who was first introduced in Assassin’s Creed: Origins. This is very important to know because if you’re a fan of the modern storytelling in the Assassin’s Creed games then you will be excited to see where it goes next.

Think of this as the next important Assassin (Layla Hassan) similar to Desmond Miles from the original Assassin’s Creed and the ending of his plot in Assassin’s Creed III. What will happen to Layla Hassan next and where will the next Assassin’s Creed game take place? Find out on October 5th, 2018 and stay tuned for our review coming up soon!
