Veteran Halo Studios developer and art director for Halo Infinite, Glenn Israel, made several claims through multiple LinkedIn posts, stating that between January 2024 and June 2025, he witnessed numerous unethical and unlawful acts by senior staff at the studio. He alleged incidents including blacklisting, fraud, rampant favoritism and cronyism (particularly in relation to hiring and career advancement interference), as well as multiple harassment campaigns aimed at provoking the constructive discharge of “unwanted” employees who were otherwise in good standing.
Israel claimed that he filed several complaints with Microsoft’s HR department, but in June 2025, this led to a senior Global Employee Relations (GER) representative threatening retaliation on first contact and promising to quash any further investigation. This culminated in a four-day-long harassment campaign that ultimately resulted in his termination in July 2025.
He also suspected that Microsoft “routinely contrives or otherwise exploits layoffs to rid itself of employees who have filed proper and effective complaints,” masking these retaliatory actions under a facade of “business justification.” Additionally, Israel stated that investigations within Microsoft’s HR department are “deliberately compartmentalized to obfuscate responsibility and create plausible deniability.”
Following Israel’s posts, other former staff members responded, confirming they had witnessed or experienced similar behavior. One of these was Tyler Davis, a former Data Scientist for Xbox who had worked on South Park: The Stick of Truth and at Studio A. Davis commented:
“They definitely did a lot of us dirty to cover some f**k ups up. It’s too hard to hold the actual people who make decisions accountable. Those controlling the narrative make it so that it just doesn’t work,” he said. “I wish the people doing the work nothing but the best. Some of the management is amazing folk. But there are those who wanted to fire every single artist, and they told me that bluntly.” Glenn Israel worked on the Halo franchise for 17 years, began his tenure at Halo Studios in April 2010 and left the studio in October 2025.
