During the recent State of Play event, publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Firesprite announced Until Dawn 2, a sequel to the 2015 horror game Until Dawn. A release date was not announced, but the game will launch sometime in 2027 for PlayStation 5. The announcement trailer introduces a new cast of characters and some of the decisions players will make throughout the game.
The game’s details:
Ready to die for likes? Join a team of ambitious ghost hunters as they chase their next viral hit on a remote island haunted by a woman’s chilling story of demons and ghostly phenomena.
When the tale begins to manifest in terrifying ways, the group will have to fight their own fear—and anything else that gets in their way – to get off the island alive. Their lives are in your hands. Make every choice count.
According to a recent filing with the UK government, Ballistic Moon, the studio behind the Until Dawn remake, has been completely dissolved, following reports last year that the studio was “effectively closed.” The dissolution was first filed on November 11, 2025, and the process was completed on February 3. These details have yet to be confirmed by either Sony, the studio, or its staff. In March last year, the studio reportedly laid off 40 employees in September and another 20 in December. A second project from the studio was reportedly discussed but never came to fruition, and some projects failed to secure funding. The report also claims that while the studio is not officially dead, it could hire more staff if it secures funding.
