THQ Nordic confirms that Dead Island 2 will be released in the future in a financial presentation.
During the publisher’s quarterly financial earning report presentation led by Lars Wingafor, CEO and co-founder of THQ Nordic announced that the Dead Island series will continue with Dead Island 2.
Since Sumo Digital took over the game’s development in 2016 and have not announced anything since. Wingafor stated during the presentation that the Dead Island 2 is, “being worked on,” with no other news other for the series.
Among other games they’ve announced to be released are Spectre 3, Kingdom Come Deliverance Royal Edition, Monster Jam Steel Titans, Wreckfest, Shenmue 3, Biomutant, Dead Island, Wasteland 3, Desperados III, Iron Harvest. There are also some projects labelled “Top Secret” that are made by Warhorse Studios, Voliton, Coffee Stain North, and 4A Games.
In total there are 80 projects that THQ Nordic are working on with 32 announced projects and 48 unannounced projects.
It’s more than likely that we’ll see something from THQ Nordic at E3 this year due to the announced game lineup. Maybe we’ll get some Biomutant and Kingdom Come Deliverance news and maybe at least another trailer for Dead Island 2. The “Top Secret” projects on the other hand are interesting as nobody would put “Top Secret” on a logo without gaining attention. Could there be another Saints Row on the way?
Another question is whether or not Dead Island 2 has made any progress during its absence. Is Sumo Digital still working on the game and if they are, why has the game been delayed for so long? Most of this information is currently unknown, but if the game is still being worked on, that means fans of the series will have something to look forward to in the far future.
