The Tomorrow Children Set To Relaunch After Developer Secures Rights From Sony

Developer Q-Games is set to revive their game The Tomorrow Children after they managed to secure the IP rights from Sony. According to Q-Games CEO Dylan Cuthbert the rights for the game were “kindly returned” to the studio by publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) and plans were now being hatched to “bring back” the title in the future.

In a statement released by Cuthbert on Q-Games official website, he stated that:

I’d like to thank first and foremost the fans of The Tomorrow Children, without whom, I would never have had the confidence to keep pursuing this deal. Secondly, I’d like to thank Sony Interactive Entertainment for also working with me to have the IP returned to Q-Games. It has taken a concerted effort by all of us to get to this ultimate step, and I’m full of gratitude to everyone involved in the process.

He then went on to discuss the game itself, stating that:

I am now tweaking and re-working parts of the game every week, and I hope everyone follows along and gets involved in this process. We plan to make quite a few changes for the better, and give The Tomorrow Children the re-launch it deserves.

The Tomorrow Children was primarily developed by Q-Games initially, with help at the time from the now-defunct Japan Studios. The title also ran on a proprietary engine that Q-Games had developed for it. The title was first announced in 2014, eventually launching in 2016.

While the game itself had its charms, the co-op adventure “set in a Soviet Union-themed post-apocalyptic dystopia” failed to pick up steam after its initial launch and was ultimately shuttled a year later in 2017. I would be curious to see what the developer plans to tweak before relaunching the title. Either way, hopefully, it goes better for them the second time around.
