The Next Call Of Duty Game Will Not Be On Last-Gen Consoles

Following a recent rumor that the next Call of Duty title, widely speculated to be Modern Warfare 4, is being tested on PlayStation 4, the official Call of Duty Twitter account refuted the claim. “Not sure where this one started, but it’s not true. The next Call of Duty is not being developed for PS4,” the post read. Unless the game is also released on Xbox One, this would make it the first title in twelve years to be exclusive to current-generation consoles, since 2013’s Call of Duty: Ghosts.

According to the insider account CharlieIntel on Twitter, the next mainline Call of Duty game is set to launch in October. It is reportedly the next installment in the Modern Warfare reboot series. The latest title in the series, Modern Warfare 3, launched in November 2023, and a sequel was reportedly already well into development following its release. Its worth noting this claim has yet to be confirmed by official sources. Modern Warfare II is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Battle.net.

According to recent news, future Call of Duty titles will no longer be available on Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass at launch. New Call of Duty games will be added to the service during the following holiday season, approximately a year later, while existing Call of Duty titles already in the library will remain available.
