It was announced in a recent tweet from The Legend of Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto that Nintendo has delayed the upcoming live-action The Legend of Zelda film. It has been delayed from the previous March 26, 2027 release date to May 7, 2027. The delay is to ensure the film is “as good as it can be.” According to Nintendo in a past post, the film “will be produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, Representative Director and Fellow of Nintendo and Avi Arad, Chairman of Arad Productions Inc., who has produced many mega hit films.” Additionally, the film will be directed by Wes Ball and co-financed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., with more than 50% financed by Nintendo. The theatrical distribution of the film will be done worldwide by Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc.
This is Miyamoto. For production reasons, we are changing the release date of the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda to May 7, 2027. It will be some weeks later than the release timing we originally announced, and we will take the extra time to make the film as good as it…
