Final Fantasy VII Remake Multiple Part Release

Square Enix Still Isn’t Sure How Many Parts Will Make Up Final Fantasy VII Remake

With Final Fantasy fans still hungover form the amount of gameplay footage shown off and a release date for the first part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake announced, there’s still one major underlying question in mind: How many parts will make up the entirety of the game? It’s been confirmed for a while now that the remake will be broken up into multiple releases, with the first release consisting of the around 20 percent of the game.

During this year’s E3 event, the game’s producer Yoshinori Kitase revealed to Kotaku that the studio itself is still doesn’t know much about the future games in the remake. According to Kitase, the studio is finishing up the first part of the remake while simultaneously starting up the second part of the game.

“When we started out planning the plot for the first game, it hit us again… at that point we decided we were going to focus first game on Midgar and what happens in Midgar. Unfortunately we can’t say anything more about the future games, because we don’t know ourselves.” – Yoshinori Kitase, Square Enix Producer

The first game in Final Fantasy VII Remake will take place throughout the Midgar region and will roughly be the size of a traditional numbered Final Fantasy title. With those details cleared up, when all is said and done it should be quite some time before we wrap up the story of Final Fantasy VII in its remade form.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is set to release its first part on March 3, 2020 for the PS4.
