According to a recent report from Bloomberg, Sony Interactive Entertainment has shut down Dark Outlaw Games. The studio was established just a year ago in March 2025 and was led by Call of Duty veteran Jason Blundell. Additionally, according to J-Soul on ResetEra, Dark Outlaw Games was in the early stages of its first game before it was shut down. Blundell also notably co-founded Deviation Games, an indie studio working with Sony on a new IP before it was shut down two years ago in March 2024, after Blundell left the studio in September 2022.
Additionally, the report states that Sony Interactive Entertainment is making cuts in mobile game development, along with other unspecified reductions. This has affected about 50 employees. According to J-Soul, the cuts reflect Sony’s shift away from the mobile market while still maintaining resources to support previously announced titles such as MLB The Show Mobile and Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble.
