Sonic the Hedgehog is Returning Big with 2 Brand New Titles in 2017

Looks like the beloved Sega mascot, Sonic the Hedgehog is coming back with a bang for sure next year; During the Sonic anniversary celebration, Sega announced two brand-new Sonic Titles and a sonic add-on for the highly popular LEGO Dimensions game, all of these will be releasing sometime in 2017.

The first one is Sonic Mania, which is a completely original throwback to the classic sonic games, featuring re-imagined stages coupled with brand new classic stages that are sure to give fans a faithful classic sonic experience they’ve been asking for years.

The second game announced it looks like it’s going to be the follow up of the highly acclaimed Sonic Generations; no official name or gameplay trailer were revealed, however, they did reveal a pretty nifty CG trailer that pretty much confirms that both modern and classic Sonic will be teaming up again for the next adventure.

Check out the CG trailer down below:

Last but not least, for the Sonic fans who also play LEGO Dimensions, you will be able to play as the blue blur in that game as well, with three unique stages and gameplay modes that will be akin to what sonic is known for.

Below is a trailer of Sonic doing his usual stuff in LEGO Dimensions:

Sonic Mania is scheduled to be released in spring 2017 for PS4, Xbox One and PC, Project Sonic 2017 is also scheduled for release in holiday 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, PC and the Nintendo NX and the sonic add-on for Lego Dimensions will be releasing sometime in the fall of 2016.

Sega has stated before that they are committed to right the wrongs that they themselves had done to their beloved mascot, and after watching these trailers, if there is any indication, it definitely shows that they are trying, however, at the end of the day, nobody knows how any of these games will turn out, but I think that as long as they focus on what the fans want, which is pure speed-based platforming action with sonic at the center stage, I think they will be just fine, and I’m definitely looking forward to see how these new games will turn out.
