Rumor PlayStation 5 More Powerful Than Scarlett

Rumor: Next-Gen PlayStation “Definitely More Powerful” Than Xbox Project Scarlett

With Microsoft revealing specs for their next-gen console, Project Scarlett, and Sony pulling back the curtains on their next-gen console several months ago, it seems many fans are already eager to dispute which system will be more powerful. Recent rumors have been floating around claiming that Sony’s step towards next-gen may be a bit further ahead in terms of sheer power when compared to what Microsoft is cooking up.

Former IGN journalist and current face of Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast, Colin Moriarty, has noted a few rumors he’s heard following the next-gen platforms. While he doesn’t necessarily go into great detail about these supposed rumors, Moriarty points out that what he’s heard regarding the upcoming consoles is that the next-gen PlayStation consoles – presumably called the PS5 – is “definitely more powerful” when compared to Microsoft’s Project Scarlett.

Adding to these rumors is also Game Informer’s own Andrew Reiner – another industry veteran, if not more so than Moriarty – has claimed that various developers working with next-gen dev kits have also made these bold claims. While nothing is positively certain, these rumors should be taken lightly as we’ve only seen a few internal specs for the next-gen consoles so far. And from what we’ve seen, both consoles sound incredibly similar.

It should also be noted that previous rumors also noted that Microsoft had two consoles in the works – Scarlett and Anaconda – though only one of those were revealed during Microsoft’s E3 – when the rumors some time ago claimed we’d see both consoles revealed. It’s still uncertain whether or not Microsoft still plans to release two next-gen consoles, with the Anaconda presumably being the more powerful of the two, but if so, would create quite the selection for gamers in the next-gen cycle.

Stay tuned for more on these rumors as next-gen news appears to be in full swing as both major console makers have revealed, at least in some manner, what their plans are for the next generation of video games.
