After rumors began surfacing earlier this year about Nintendo looking to release a revamped Switch model, it seems another report from Nikkei is looking to confirm these rumors. The report says a number of interesting things about Nintendo’s approach in order to keep the Switch design from stalling out, including releasing multiple new designs tackling a more efficient price and beefier hardware.

Most Nintendo fans are hoping for a much more powerful console that still allows them the portability of the Switch. Currently, the report goes on to state that Nintendo is looking to release a less costly Switch that focuses more on portability and will release this coming fall. While the focus may be directed towards the portability feature of the hybrid console, it’s not ditching the TV connectivity as it’s still reported on retaining that key feature.

We’ve also learned that Nintendo is looking to push a “next-generation device that is a full model change of the current hardware”. This almost sounds like Nintendo is looking to move forward from the beloved Switch design, but we’re hoping that’s still a ways away. The article states that while development is in its planning stages, one developer goes on to address “it is not clear who will lead the creation of the concept”.

While we’ve yet to hear any official confirmation regarding Nintendo’s plans for their console future, it’s exciting to know they’re not taking it easy in terms of creating exciting and innovative ideas to keep the industry moving forward.

Stay tuned for more updates on what Nintendo may be looking forward to in the future.
