Remedy Gains Alan Wake Publishing

Remedy Entertainment Reestablishes Publishing for Alan Wake Series

Remedy Entertainment has announced in a press release that along with a larger amount of royalties heading the company’s way, the studio will retain publishing rights for the previously released Alan Wake games. Both Alan Wake and Alan Wake’s American Nightmare were originally published by Microsoft but will now become apart of Remedy’s own publishing library.

The statement reads that Remedy with receive “2.5 million euros of royalties from previously released games” and will receive the income in the second half of 2019. The publishing acquisition of the Alan Wake games to Remedy comes alongside the royalty payments from Microsoft.

After the announcement of the royalty payment and publishing acquisition, Remedy spoke with Eurogamer about the situation, possibly hinting at bringing the Alan Wake series over to other platforms. The Alan Wake titles have been exclusive to Microsoft platforms, but now under Remedy’s wing could see a release on the Switch or PS4.

“The only thing we want to clarify, now that Remedy owns the publishing rights, is that we could bring Alan Wake to different platforms if we so choose” – Remedy

Remedy is currently focusing their efforts on the upcoming release of their new IP Control which is set to release on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. Control will have exclusive content for the PS4, along with a recent rumor regarding Remedy joining SIE Worldwide Studios, or at the very least, collaborating on an exclusive title.
